Monday 9th February 2026 Martin Clarkson

I am Martin Clarkson, a wood turner originally from the northeast of England and now settled in Lincolnshire .

One Christmas I was given a lathe and on boxing day spent time trying to get the best from it. For the first time in my life I found something in a hobby that I had never found before. It is relaxing, testing and sometimes frustrating, but in the most very rewarding.  Now every spare moment is spent in my small work shop. I seem to have found a talent for lathework that has become appreciated by many and my diverse ability and artistic style now allows me to choose woods from around the world to create pieces that are unique in style. Having said that I also love to produce items using sustainable British timbers.

What a great turnout for Martin's demonstration, and I must I thoroughly enjoyed the night hoefully we all took something away from the night.
